The dress was stunning, the bride was stunning and the snot was stunning. Yes, the snot was definitely stunning.
THE DRESS
She beamed as she walked gracefully down the aisle in her gorgeous couture, white wedding dress. Her radiant smile was more noticeable than her perfectly coiffed hair and flawless make-up.
Revelation 19:7, “Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.” NIV
THE VOWS
The couple wrote their own vows and read them affectionately to each other. He proclaimed her child-like faith in Jesus and she anticipated his leadership. Their words were touching. Many in the packed chapel looked toward the ceiling in an effort to contain tender tears collecting in their lower lids.
Mark 10:9, “Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” NKJV
THE SNOT
The bride looked happy as she read her heartfelt vows, nevertheless, she was obviously emotional and began to cry as many brides do on their wedding day. Then she did what many brides do not do. She wiped her nose.
I couldn’t see the snot, but she announced it.
Sorry, I have some snot.
She proceeded to unceremoniously wipe her her nose with her hand and entire forearm. A chuckle rippled through the crowd as her mother exclaimed, “Did she just say snot?”
Revelation 21:4, “He will wipe away all tears from their eyes.” GNB
THE GROOM
Following the vows the rings were exchanged. Remember, the ring is placed on the finger, which is attached to the hand, which was used to wipe the copious snot only seconds before. He never hesitated. He eagerly took her hands into his with his gaze fixed on hers.
Psalm 51:7, “Purify me with hyssop and I will be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than snow.” HCSB
UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
How tenderly He looks at his bride. He covers her in a robe of righteousness. His bride is His church; pure, dressed in white, not because of her own righteousness but because of His sacrifice. Our bridegroom doesn’t notice our sins because they are forgiven and scattered as far as the east is from the west.

He makes us clean and He never hesitates to take our hands and love us unconditionally.
Romans 5:6, “Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway.” MSG
DID CHRIST DIE FOR NOTHING?
Yet how often do we try to clean up our act first? We plan to follow Christ after:
we quit …
or get better at…
or start doing…
What if she ran out of the ceremony to wash her hands? Or what if she withheld herself because she was not clean? No, she let him join her right where she was, allowing her groom to redeem the moment. If you are able to clean up your own act, then you probably don’t need Jesus. But if you are like me, you have tried to change and found it impossible. Let Him change you from the inside out, otherwise Christ died for nothing.
Galatians 2:21, “I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.” NLT

Yup! That’s the way we present ourselves. We are covered with the stains of this world and how we’ve related to the world around us. Fortunately, the Lord makes sure that what is seen is us cleansed by his sacrifice. …..Peace, Love and Blessings on You and Yours. …….☮ph
Amen!

So glad I have a box of tissue right nearby! Ha!
This was excellent. I laughed and laughed. And cried. Always cry at weddings. 😉
Thanks, Vickie!
I’m usually not emotional, but weddings get me every time
After laughing at the thought about the bride, you made an great point in letting Christ accept us because it’s of what He did and does that make us righteous not anything we can do!. Good thoughts!
True story! Told with permission of course
Thank you for allowing God to use you to speak His message to us! I needed this Word from Him today!
