The Heart of the Author
The book club for busy readers and non-readers to find tidbits of truth to lead them closer to the word
Family Driven Faith
Doing what it takes to raise sons and daughters who walk with God
Life goes by quickly and parents need to be equipped to train their children at home rather than letting churches take responsibility. The foundations of our faith serve as a checklist of things to cover.
GOD IS SOVEREIGN
In the good, the bad, the sinful and the painful, God is still in control. Our responses teach our kids who we are and who God is. Everything in life must be filtered through this truth.
WORD OF GOD
Teach it, read it, memorize it, believe it, meditate on it. Plan truth into your heart for the future. It helps to know the full character of God rather than bits and pieces, which can cause error. The standard of truth is God’s word and it must be obeyed.
We cannot follow the rules if we don’t have a relationship
People want to come alongside the church and train their children, when they should allow the church to come alongside them. The responsibility to raise godly children falls to the parents.
PRAYER
Teach your children to pray. Prayer is acknowledging how big God is and how small we are. It is ongoing communication. When we pray we understand God is in control, He is worthy of praise, we can pray for others, repent and offer thanksgiving. Using prepared prayers teaches us how to communicate with God and serves as a model for our kids.
What if your home and family are less than perfect?
Well, that’s pretty much everyone. But be encouraged single parents and moms who are the spiritual leaders of their homes. It is the Lord who changes hearts. Be obedient in training and teaching your kids. And when you fail, because we all do, get back up.
