Found: God’s Will
by
John MacArthur
It’s the thing every Christian wants to know: What is God’s will for my life? John MacArthur says finding the will of God is not as hard as we make it. So often, we wait…and wait…for God to reveal His will to us. We keep looking for some cosmic sign that tells us exactly where He wants us to go and what He wants us to do. But, MacArthur says, “The will of God is not primarily a place. The will of God is not, first of all, for you to go there or work here. The will of God concerns you as a person.”
It’s more about the decision maker than the decision. God cares more about who you are than what you do. If you want to know God’s will, it is not elusive. He spells it us out for us clearly in the Bible.
Since God has a will for us, He must want us to know it. If so, then we could expect Him to communicate it to us in the most obvious way. #Quote from #FoundGodsWord by @JohnMacArthur #TheHeartoftheAuthor #podcast Click To Tweet
God’s will is that we are:
- Saved – He wants all people to be saved. 2 Peter 3:9
- Spirit-filled – He wants us to be empowered by the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5:18
- Sanctified – He wants us to be pure and holy. 1 Thessalonians 4:3
- Submissive – He wants us to submit to those in authority so the world will see that our faith is real. 1 Peter 2:13-15
- Suffering – If you are living for Christ, you will suffer because the world will oppose you. Philippians 1:29
- Do what you want! – As long as you are doing all the above, you are free to follow your desires, and you will fulfill His will. Psalm 37:4
So, instead of waiting around for a sign from God about what to do next, keep moving. Run toward Christ, immerse yourself in His Word, yield to His Spirit, submit to Him in obedience, and rejoice when you are persecuted for His sake. When you delight yourself in the Lord first, then you will delight in His will.
