OUT OF THE SALT SHAKER INTO THE WORLD
EVANGELISM AS A WAY OF LIFE
by Rebecca Manley Pippert
Fear is the enemy of evangelism. Fear of what people think and fear of what we don’t know. But God is glorified in our weakness and we are called as witnesses to what we have seen and know.
If talking about God is uncomfortable, it will make the other person feel uncomfortable. We need to be authentic and real, honestly sharing our own struggles. Our failures give the gospel more power. To share the gospel, we must share our lives. We cannot shout the gospel from a safe distance.
Jesus sets the example for evangelism. He found common ground with people then displayed a radical difference. He cared about people not just treating them like a project. He confronted people about who they were and who He is.
Our obedience can affect other’s eternal destiny.

There is no discipleship without cost. We cannot follow without obedience. Our witness is ineffective if our lifestyle betrays belief. Believing in God isn’t the same as making Him Lord.
Most people’s faith doesn’t affect their lives. Living for Christ demands a total response. It’s easier to make it about stuff than heart issues. But God calls us to do what we cannot do without Him.
God is love and we must love others. People are never so marred that God by His grace cannot redeem them. Like the prodigal son, we are dressed in robes of righteousness despite our filth.
