Couldn’t we all use a little peace? Instead of peace on earth, we live in world of turmoil, division, and flat-out chaos. To tell the truth, we won’t find peace any place in this world. Yet, we can find peace in our hearts if we let the Prince of Peace reign.
Isaiah foretold Jesus’ birth with these words, “For a child is born to us…” then he called him, “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Faither, Prince of peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)
Prince of Peace
Royalty reigns. Does peace reign in your soul? Prepare your heart for Christmas by looking to the Prince of Peace.
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:14 (KJV)
Peace is a person. King Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Abide with Him and find this fruit of the Spirit:
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives; love, joy, peace….
Galatians 5:22 (NLT)
Complete peace
Here’s what I’ve learned about finding peace – it comes with surrender. Instead of clinging to what you think you want, pray like Jesus, “Thy will be done.” Complete peace comes with surrendering to God’s perfect will. I pray it this way, “Whatever Lord.”
Tension
Listen carefully to the words of “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day,” and feel the tension of living between heaven and earth. If you are a believer and living on earth, you’re going to live in this tension. Galatians 6 describes it this way, “These two ways of life are contrary to each other, so that you cannot live at times one way and at times another way according to how you feel on any given day.” (MSG)
You see, whatever reigns in your heart will control your life. Choose to walk in the Spirit today.
If your circumstances don’t make sense, find Jesus and find peace that passes understanding. If your life is spinning out of control, turn to the Prince of peace. Prepare your heart for Christmas and receive the gift of peace.
