With only a few days left before Christmas, don’t forget your wardrobe. Want to know what to put on to prepare your heart for Christmas? Try on a little kindness. It fits just right and goes perfectly with patience and love.

“You must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12 (NLT)

Not random acts of kindness

Kindness isn’t random; it’s intentional. When I take a look around, it seems the Grinch isn’t the only one with a little bitty heart. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness….

Kindness spills out of a heart of LOVE.

“Love is patient and kind.” 1 Corinthians 13:3 (NLT)

When you don’t feel like being kind

It’s hard to be kind when you live in a world that embraces discord and division. Yet we are called to be different than the world; we are called to unity, kindness and love, even for our enemies. Will you pray for your enemies and ask God to mold your heart toward kindness?

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)

Notice that kindness and forgiveness are often coupled in God’s word. If you are struggling with kindness, back up and start working on forgiveness, then see if kindness follows.

Change your life

Wondering what to wear for Christmas? How about wearing that special outfit picked out by God. After all, he made the first set of clothes when he covered Adam and Eve’s sins with animal skins.

“So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic all-purpose garment. Never be without it.” Colossians 3:12-14 (MSG)

“This is the kindness of our God
The angels sang a song of peace
For unto us a child was born”
