SILENCE is defined as failing to speak, not spoken or expressed.
SILENCE
SILENCE: Inaudible. Speechless. Unsaid. Unspoken. Unvoiced. Unexpressed.
When I saw the links to the Planned Parenthood video on social media, I ignored them. I tend to be a skeptic anyway. I prefer to check the facts and I hate hype. So often pro-life arguments are emotional and lacking in medical truth. I need science. Sorry, I am a doctor. So I ignored the chatter. I was silent.

CHOICES
I am the medical director of a pregnancy resource center. I really don’t do much, I just review all of the ultrasounds. Mostly, they are beautiful black and white still snapshots of women who wanted a sneak peek at their baby. That is okay with me, the purpose of the center is to share Christ.
2 Corinthians 3:12, “Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.” NIV
ABORTION
Occasionally I have to sign off on an ultrasound picture of a perfectly formed baby I know has already been sucked out of the womb. It is surreal to look at the image of hands, face and a heart that no longer beats. I stare at it with reverence and disbelief.
Psalm 139:13, “Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mothers womb.” MSG
I shared my intentions to tackle this subject with a friend this morning before most of you got out of bed. She is brutally honest and totally redeemed. She said,
As a Christian who has murdered her own child as a 19-year-old young woman, abortion is such a deception and wicked lie. It claims to offer freedom but is such overwhelming bondage.
Indeed, they claim to offer freedom.
THE WICKED LIE
Pro-choice proponents view abortion as a solution to a problem. A prolific abortion provider in my state was actually featured in Arkansas Times and said something like this about abortion -It is very rewarding; it is like another doctor has told them they have cancer and I get to tell them they don’t. A quick fix. Get rid of it. I wonder how many of those women he “helped” never thought about their pregnancy again? I wonder how many were really cured? Or five years later, did they look at every five-year-old and think…”my child would be that age.”
I’ve counseled numerous women over the years who have never recovered from their abortions. Yet, I have never encountered a single, solitary woman who regretted carrying her baby. Not a single one. If you are suffering, please know – Jesus separates our sins as far as the east is from the west.
Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus.” ASV
I cried when I read her words. Her response to my tears,
Cry for my dear child and cry over the grace and mercy of our God, that He is kind enough and has enough love to forgive me and restore me. Not just barely enough grace but buckets full of grace poured over my broken heart and mind.
EXCEPT…
About half of the people in this country believe it is a woman’s choice to continue to carry a fetus. Most of them won’t be swayed. A few truly believe every human life is sacred. But here is the rub; many pro-life Christians believe abortion is wrong except. Except waters down the truth. If you believe except… in the case of rape. Perhaps you should read
If you believe except…when the baby has a lethal anomaly. Perhaps you should read
Either every life matters, or it doesn’t. Either life is sacred, or it isn’t. Either life begins at conception, or it doesn’t. I am convinced life begins at conception. Any other line drawn is actually very arbitrary. I am convinced because I have seen it with my own eyes.
Psalm 139:16, “Your eyes have seen my unformed substance” NASB
It is time to break the silence…for such a time as this.
Don’t be silent, you can share this on Facebook or Twitter.
2 Corinthians 1:7, “Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.” ESV

thank you for your boldness and faith, it encourages me to share the truth
I absolutely love that you are encouraged!
Over 30 years ago one of the best decisions I ever made was walking out of Planned Parenthood in Fayetteville when they advised me to have an abortion so I could finish college. Aa you know, this was in the 80’s when it wasn’t acceptable to get pregnant before you were married. As you also know, I got married, finished college, medical school, residency and am still married and still practicing. But most importantly I have a beautiful 30 year old daughter who is the joy of my life. No, not a single day of regret for carrying this precious life!
That pretty much says it all
