WHAT IF…it rains on your wedding day? Celebrate!
With the wedding 14 days away, I opened the weather app to see a cartoon cloud emanating a lightning bolt and dripping disappointment. The chance of rain was 80%. What if it rains on your wedding day? Then use umbrellas and wear rain boots; laugh, dance and celebrate the beauty of the day, in the rain.
All of the bridesmaids confirmed they had rainboots – zebra-striped and pretty colors. I distributed clear rain ponchos and scoured Pinterest for rainy wedding photo ideas. We knew when we planned an April wedding that weather is unpredictable. We just didn’t know how unpredictable.
The rain percentage changed hourly until it was gone, then there was a chance of snow, “perhaps a rumble of thunder” then freezing rain. In the end we were blessed with abundant sunshine. Chilly temps, but sunny nonetheless.

What if it rains on your life? Celebrate!
The unpredictability of life and severe weather I’ve recently experienced caused me to take shelter under the wings of the Almighty. What if it rains your LIFE? Then carry an umbrella and wear rain boots; laugh, dance and celebrate the beauty of what was and trust the future with the One who whispered to me this morning, “Trust me, I am trustworthy.” No matter how unpredictable.
“As your name, O God, so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness.” Psalm 48:10 ESV
Reminder
A small iridescent bead hangs around my neck and catches the light. The gift from a sweet friend reminds me that blessings come through raindrops and healing comes through tears. Indeed I laugh, dance and celebrate. Now I’ll admit that dancing at the wedding totally wiped me out, but it was worth it.
What if….?
What if God doesn’t rescue you from…? God rescued three men from a blazing furnace: He has the power to do that. But even if He doesn’t, He is worthy to be celebrated. I am in the furnace and my God is powerful enough to rescue me so that I don’t get burned or even smell like smoke, but even if He doesn’t, I will laugh, dance and celebrate and praise His name!
