What is God able to do?
Redemption, restoration, healing. I’ve prayed and prayed and waited and waited. My friends prop me up and lift me up to the Father. Yet I’m still surrounded by what isn’t and mourning what should be. God what are you able to do with this mess that’s my life?
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” Ephesians 3:20 NIV
More what?
When I first got sick someone showed up at my door with Priscilla’s Shirer’s book “God is Able,” which focused on each individual word: GOD. IS. ABLE. I drank in hope for complete healing. Myasthenia gravis is my forever companion, but I’ve come so far I really can’t complain. Besides, God used my illness to bless me in many ways. I wouldn’t choose it, but I’m not sure I’d trade it either.
Enough is enough
God is able indeed, yet so much familiar and good in my life was stripped away leaving me with God’s persistent nudging, “Am I enough?” Yes Lord, You are enough, but… I still want.
I try to remind myself it’s just stuff, but memories hang hard on tangibles.
God meets me on the porch
Sitting in the first light of day on my front porch, I read familiar words in my devotional book.
“Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us” Ephesians 3:20 HCSB
It’s cliché really, God is able. Out loud I asked, “God, what is it you are able to do?” I mean I get the whole free will thing, but He could stop this. He could step in and intervene. Miracles happen and surely it is not His will for our family to be torn asunder.
Sometimes God answers me and sometimes He is silent. My question was loud and his answer was soft.
I AM ABLE TO CHANGE YOU
My whole heart doesn’t depend on another living soul. There is only One able to make me whole and He is enough.
God, You are able, if I am willing.
“God can do anything, you know – far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!” Ephesians 3:20 MSG

What a beautiful message! I am glad I read this today.
I’m glad you did too! I have to go back and read what I write to myself
