All my life I believed there was a formula for life: A + B = C, but only if you add enough effort and determination. Yes, those are the ingredients I counted on for success. But I was so very wrong.

Every woman needs certain superpowers to live her perfect life. Having it all takes incredible effort. It requires mastering efficiency; never wasting a single step and squeezing every second out of the clock. But, having it all is exhausting and a perfect life is a fantasy.

What if rest is the blessing?

Rest is not only an expression of trust; it also reflects satisfaction. After creating the universe, God didn’t rest on the seventh day because He was tired, He rested because He was satisfied. What about us? Maybe, we are never satisfied, and that’s why we don’t rest.

Perfection

True satisfaction comes from aligning my heart with God’s. God rested in the perfection of His works. I don’t know about you, but I exhaust myself trying to create my own perfection. That’s a never-ending struggle with no rest to be found. Satisfaction in myself is elusive; rest is only found in the Lord.

Satisfaction

Rest and satisfaction go hand in hand with perfection, but we are incapable of perfection. Even on my best days, standing ovations are never enough. My best efforts always fail. Relying on my own strength is my downfall, not just physically, but spiritually too.

5 Verses for your weary soul

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” ~ Jesus

Matthew 11:28-30 MSG

Isn’t it great to know that Jesus can do for us what we can never do for ourselves? Walking with Him means totally depending on Him.

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:31 NKJV

I believe it, but it’s the waiting that’s hard. Wherever you are right now, wait for the Lord to renew your strength.

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”

Galatians 6:9 NLT

Just because He wants us to rest in Him doesn’t mean we sit on our hands. Keep going, keep serving, keep sharing. The blessings will come eventually, either on earth or in heaven.

“I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”

The LORD Jeremiah 31:25 NIV

Refresh! What a beautiful word. When you can’t put one foot in the other, remember God refreshes the weary and satisfies the faint.

My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word!”

Psalm 119:28 ESV

Want to know where you can find this strength? In His word!! Have you had your daily dose?
